Spare your clothes, your children are gonna need them.
This is a thought that has been running though my mind since i put this outfit together this morning. Inspired by my mother and my love for clothing. I put together items from the past and rocked a cool outfit. With the doek from my grandmother, belt from my mother and shirt from my grandfather, i put together a feel good-do good outfit.
I figured all these items have been used in the past and are quite relevant in the lives of fashion lovers today. I guess my statement, spare your clothes, your children are gonna need them, becomes quite relevant in that sense.
Think of all the items you have pulled from the elders wardrobe and made you look good. Knowing that it is very rare to find anyone in current times wearing the same item. It gives you the opportunity to own the look, own the feel good walk. SUCH JOY.
This is for the fashion lovers, for the emotional beings who understand that fashion and dressing up, is merely a way of expression.
Give your children an opportunity to look good, feel good and own the street look. SPARE YOUR CLOTHES.

Defining Vintage: Stolen From Grandma...
Noted quite a few clothing items that have been stolen from our grandmothers wardrobes. For reasons that they do not wear them anymore - they too cool for them, and that their grandchildren have found better ways to rock the items. This is what we define as old school.
Granny's wardrobes have become quite the place to 'shop' for our winter warmers. The granny jersey has become my favourite clothing item this season, there are pretty much ample ways to rock it.
It is definitely a winter warmer. Paired up with a great looking leggings or nice jeans, you are good to go. It even works with a pair of all stars or real cool boots.
There are also other nice items to steal from there, from high waist pants, to pencil skirts you can even scarf yourself up. The idea is to shop all around and make things work from gran to all these other stores. Go ahead, jersey yourself up. Go looking in the right places.

The Fascination about crop tops - 'di stomach out'
Fashion trends come and go, some never really spark out that big as others do. One that really managed to grab my eye this season is the crop top look. I think it is really cool, quite versatile i must say - provided you do it right. It works with long skirts, short skirts, high waist jeans you name it, it works. Yet again, i think it has its own people. It is not for everyone, rather not for every body shape - not to offend anyone.
Do not get me wrong, this is what I am saying - you really have to be specific on how you pull it, depending on your body shape. Certain looks work for certain body shapes, I believe that statement applies in every fashion trend or look, even though it seems as though it needs to be emphasised regarding the crop top look. It is merely about knowing your body shape son.
People need to undertand that some looks are seasonal, there is no way you could be wearing a wearing such tops during such a season, gwa bata and otlo gatsela. There is limit to it all. If sexy is not warm then it is not sexy at all. It is called Stomach out for a reason. You cannot be warm yet your stomach is out, not in this kind of weather. Season for Jackets nothing too revealing.
SEXY CROP TOP LOOKS... to be left in the wardrobe for now.

Blogging for the Reserved Souls
When I was tasked to blog back in January, I was actually kind of excited. I thought I could do with a challenge. I am that reserved kind of girl. I grew up keeping my thoughts to myself, because they were usually irrelevant or heavy for people to contemplate. I saw this task as a platform to get myself to talk, think out loud - with reason, of course - little did I know it gets harder.
I haven't blogged in a while, too busy overthinking or under thinking what to blog about. Well, much as you want me to blog, I would love to know what you would like to hear from me, with reservations yes! T&C's apply. Lol...
I am still on some fashion and food discovery channel. You will be hearing from me more often now. As my thoughts are still having a ball in my head, hope it won't be too long.

Defying the Norm
It always feels good to see people responding in a positive way towards one's fashion sense. Last week, I decided to pull a 'bad hair week' look at school, where I decided to wear something different on my head the whole week. People actually liked it, even though a few of them had to ask what was going on or if I was getting married? Got a few, rather a lot few compliments about the looks and the fashion sense. It was pleasant to hear.
I suppose that's how the Beyoncés' and the Rihannas' feel when they start a new trend,- not that I was doing the same- I was just playing me.
It takes a little courage to try and defy the norm and actually do you. Fashion or rather trends are addictive and fun to follow. A little change in your outfit makes a huge different in your confidence. So speaks Ms Dirty Socks herself. Felt good to defy the norm.

Sockies! :)
Do not get me wrong, this is not a blog about socks. Nothing close to that. It's merely about lifestyle in general. Part of that is fashion and I happen to find socks very fashionable. I do not want to be talking about them the whole time.
I mean who wants to read about socks?
A friend of mine gave me 'are you serious' face, when I told her my interest is socks. Sounds wierd I know, but I bet I'm not the only one.
Anyways, do stick around for the food, people, places thingies and more fashion talk that is not socks :) ...
